Introduction: It’s a great day because my guy, Deshaun Watson started running today. Injury, rehab, now running.
Malcolm Butler – why didn’t he play. The latest. A grudge? Discipline? Trying to keep his d-coordinator?
Clear out penalty on the final hail mary. 5 yards and another try? Hogan was cleared.
Mike called the game right in my lock of the week. He finished 5-7 to Lance’s 3-9. Mike also beat Lance in the bracket challenge 7 to 3. In addition, Mike destroyed Lance in the playoff fantasy league. Mike won first place and is clearly the better football mind.
Lance thought the New England Patriots would win the Super Bowl and that the game wouldn’t be competitive. LOL
University of Arizona now can claim a Super Bowl winning starting quarterback. Something traditional powerhouses USC, Miami, LSU, Penn State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, and Clemson can’t claim.
Scott Terrible Take:
Mike is a fan of hypothetical scenarios, but these yahoos on Twitter are throwing out just silliness. Someone I was tweeting with yesterday thought that, if the Vikings had Stafford then the Vikings would have won the Super Bowl. Just totally random stuff. No way to ever prove anyone right. But, with that said, I think there are only 2 qbs that could have taken the Vikings to a SB win and they are Brady and Rodgers (if not injured). Otherwise, the Vikings just didn’t have the coaching and offensive philosophy.
There is a podcast, which I won’t give credit to, that did an entire 1-hour show on answering “What if Teddy Bridgewater doesn’t tear his ACL in training camp 2016? How does it change the landscape of the NFL today?”
Lance claimed that Jimmie Garroppolo would have won the Super Bowl. This despite Tom Brady, at the age of 40, without his Top 2 wide receivers (Edelman and Cooks), throwing for 505 yards, 3 touchdowns and zero interception.
Later this week we are recording our first annual quarterback show. Look for it to drop on Friday.
Olympics – schedule/pairings not yet released. Team sports are of the most interest to me, but watching the skiers and bobsledders are fun. Ski jumping is ridiculous. NBC coverage leaves a lot to be desired.
