Introduction – Mike discussed the Top Google Terms of 2017. Two of the top googled terms for 2017: daca (which Rube Mike thought was the drug that makes the user want to eat people), and Jeremy Lin’s hair.
Lance went through a situation where he is being forcefully removed from his Fantasy Empire League. He didn’t like that the rules of the league’s constitution was enforced. It’s a sad state of affairs for Lance, who didn’t qualify for the playoffs and now is being kicked out of the league. What a fiasco.
Mike concluded that Lance can’t play nice in the sand box and doesn’t win money at fantasy football anyway.
Reviewing the week that was with an NFL free for all:
Lance: the snow bowl game had a foot of snow during the game. Lance talked about good memories of playing football in the snow. Mike clearly stated that there is nothing fun about playing football in the snow.
Mike: What was Carson Wentz thinking? The best player on the NFL’s best team pushes a play and puts his health in danger. Ultimately tearing his ACL. Mike pointed out that he is the Carson Wentz of basketball officiating.
Mike: How bad is Oakland? Most disappointing team of the season. Sadly, Mike compared Derek Carr to Jim Plunkett in a preseason preview and that was about as far off base as any comparison yet.
Lance: the NFC has opened up, even more so with the injury to Carson Wentz. Some discussion about the likelihood of the Green Bay Packers making it to the playoffs.
Mike: Carolina is the real deal and will make the playoffs. Book it. They had a great win over the Vikings in Carolina.
Lance: talked about how great Case Keenum is. Mike pointed out how the game against the Carolina Panthers was average and that Keenum is trending down. Minnesota Vikings should be very nervous heading into the playoffs. Mike also reminded Lance that Lance had voted Keenum for the pro bowl and considered him one of the Top Six quarterbacks in the league.
Week 14 NFL Playoff picture:
Scott’s Terrible Take – Lance elected Mike for this week’s Terrible Take, and it’s groundless. What Mike is saying is, baseball must be made relevant again. In order to do so, Major League Baseball (MLB) should contract the number of games. The thing that’s great about the NFL is every game means something. NCAA March Madness? Every game means something. Baseball, and to a large extent, the NBA: not so much. There are too many meaningless games.
Mike is not happy that Lance refused to allow Lance’s take where he said the Buffalo Bills would win the division.
Preview of the new weekend:
Two trending up:
Two trending down:
Shot in the dark:
Neither guy were correct with the shot in the dark from last week.
Mike - Cincinnati Bengals upsets the 11 point favorite Vikings in Minneapolis. Keenum’s confidence is shaken and an inspired Bengals team, behind 300 yards and 3 TD’s by the Red Rocket, win straight up.
Lance – Philadelphia going to the New York Giants. Manning pulls out a magical game and spirals the Eagles to the depths of hell.
Locks of the week:
It’s refreshing for Mike to be in the lead in the locks of the week and back to his winning ways. Mike 2-1 vs 1-2 by Lance.
Mike know the future!
Mike - Atlanta at Tampa Bay, the Falcons are favored by 6.5. Tampa has been a disappointment and has one of the worst coaches in the game. Give me Atlanta and give up the points. I imagine the game will open higher than the current line.
Lance – Carolina hosting Green Bay. Carolina is favored by 2.5 points. Take Carolina and give up the points.
Mike - Baltimore at Cleveland: Ravens are favored by 7 on the road at a Browns team that has a QB that doesn’t know how to win. Painful turnovers at terrible times. Take the Ravens and give up the points.
Lance – Kansas City (-1) at home against the San Diego Chargers. Take the Chargers -1.
Mike - Houston at Jacksonville: Jags are favored by 10.5 and it could easily be twice as much. TJ Yates against this legit defense? Yikes. Give me Jacksonville and give up the points.
Lance – Pittsburgh at New England (-3). Patriots coming off a bad loss and the Steelers are playing really well. Take the Steelers and the points.
